[Boatanchors] 6L6 & 6AG7 w/4 switched coils = what?

Doc,
 It looks like that will no longer receive on 6 meters hi hi..

 However I have seen a lot uglier  transmitters than that do perfectly fine on the air.
 I would not worry about using it if it puts out a decent signal. Does that dial work as a VFO?
