I uploaded the scan of the 160-meter conversion kit for the HX-50/HX-50A to BAMA. When I acquired the HX-50A, I went looking for a conversion kit and was very fortunate to locate a complete, unopened kit!
After installing the kit, the drive, to the final amplifier, was VERY low. The output was well under 5-watts. No alignment of the coils would increase the drive. Finally, I installed like a 47 pf capacitor between the windings of one of the coil sets, either T-1003 or T-1001. I don't remember exactly which one. I seem to recall that it was T-1003 but I am not certain.
After installing the coupling capacitor, the drive went to where it should be and the transmitter put out full power. I used the transmitter, for 160-meters, for quite a number of years before building a 160-meter transverter. After building the transverter, I sold the HX-50A so I cannot verify to which coil set I had to add the coupling capacitor.
Here is the transverter:

Subject: [Boatanchors] WTD Hammarlund HX-50 160M Add On Kit, Parts Or Ideas
I know this is a long shot but I'm going to give it a try.
The Hammarlund HX-50 Transmitter has 160 on it's VFO. However 160 was an
option that could be installed when new, or added on. I wonder if anyone has
either the add on kit, or possibly a junker with the needed parts
There are 3 coils located over the band switch
T10001- 1st mixer coil p/n P26786-21
T1002- Second mixer coil p/n P26786-18
T1003 Driver Coil p/n P26786-19
11.335 mc crystal
I have also attached the Hammarlund directions, courtesy of BAMA on how to
install the kit.
Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated
