Well Bob, I don't know if this will work for Smoke Odours…but I know it works for MOULD Smells on Paper Manuals and Books. 

Take the Manuals and seal them in a Plastic Zip Lock Baggie. Then put them in the Freezer for a day. This works well for killing mould and getting rid of that kind of stink!! Maybe it will work for the smoke smell too????
