[Boatanchors] MFJ 989C Tuner Repair

I have one of these with a classic MFJ booboo inside.
The brass runner on the roller coil was not machined correctly and will not stay engaged with the coil.
I'm planning to machine one, but wonder if anyone has a junker from which I might get a runner, or  even a whole coil?
Taking the coil apart is a real PITA, but it's either that or part out/sell off the unit
