Hi,

A GEIP+ module is based on a VIP4/80 (http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/63/vip_crash.html). The Geip+ module is identified by (0x40) and the VIP4/80 by (0x22).

We've got PA-GE running in a Vip2/50. In the sh diag you see the difference, but the module is working oke.

Slot 2:
        Physical slot 2, ~physical slot 0xD, logical slot 2, CBus 0
        Microcode Status 0x4
        Master Enable, LED, WCS Loaded
        Board is analyzed
        Pending I/O Status: None
        EEPROM format version 1
GEIP controller, FRU: GEIP=, HW rev 2.02, board revision C0
Serial number: 14987057 Part number: 73-2167-05
Test history: 0x00 RMA number: 00-00-00

        Slot database information:

Controller Memory Size: 128 MBytes DRAM, 8192 KBytes SRAM

        PA Bay 0 Information:
                Gigabit-Ethernet PA, 1 ports, FRU: PA-GE=
                EEPROM format version 1
HW rev 1.00, Board revision A0
Serial number: 11191195 Part number: 73-3144-03

The major problem is that I think that you don't get TAC support when you are running against bugs upon this implementation. The only supported Gigabit Ethernet implementations are based upon GEIP / GEIP+ !

i don't have the link handy (and the person who does is out of the
office today), but i was told that the vip4/80 didn't support ge/ip+
interfaces...i may be recalling the conversation wrong, but i think
you have to use a vip6/80 (either that, or that was the excuse that
they gave here to upgrade to the 6/80 ;) )

i will try to find the documentation
