Actually, yes.  The switch only has to worry about forwarding packets.  
The routers on the other hand are obviously going to be doing BGP, perhaps 
MPLS, perhaps some OIR (Online Insert and Really hope it works), and are 
likely to need more frequent IOS upgrades.  I've had lots of cisco routers 
crash.  I can't remember the last time one of their switches crashed.
