Daniel:

Make sure that your timers are the same on both sides (dead/hello).
In addition make sure that extreme is taking the lan as a broadcast
and not a non-broadcast or ptp.

You can do a debug ip os packet on the cisco to help w/finding what
is causing the timers to  expire.
