Could you please elaborate on what does IOS consider "directly connected"?
Specific examples:

!
int fa0/0
ip add 1.0.0.1 255.255.255.0
!
ip route 2.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 Fa0/0
!
ip route 3.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 1.0.0.254
!
ip route 4.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 3.0.0.1

Could you please comment, which of the networks above - 1.0.0.0/24 to
4.0.0.0/24 - will be considered directly connected, if *ALL* of the config
above is active at the same time?

Also, if different interpretation exists in different current IOS flavors,
please care to mention it. ;)

Thanks!

SY,
