There are a number of sniffers that can do this... Vomit is one.
HP/Agilent Advisor is another. NAI's Sniffer Pro is a third... Just to
name a few.
There are also a number of vendors out there who allow this to happen on
purpose, allowing wiretaps on VoIP lines. That, of couse, will depend
on your country.
But to answer the question, yes it is possible. You should take proper
security precautions at all points within a VoIP design to make sure
this doesn't occur though!

Subject: [nsp] VoIP Eavesdropping..
hello
I am a CCNA from Turkey, and I think I will soon be in charge of
implementing a nation-wide VoIP solution using Cisco products for a
large company here. However, I have two questions:
- I assume that implementing this solution is a bit beyond my knowledge.
Is there a certain Cisco course that I could take, which would make me a
passable Cisco Voice professional that know how to configure the
necessary equipment?
- Is it possible to eavesdrop on calls made using this technology?
Theoratically it should be much safer than calls made using traditional
telephone systems, but I wonder if there's some way of listening or is
it completely secure?
thanks in advance
ege
