Just grab yourself a copy of lft from
http://www.mainnerve.com/lft/
it already does what you want (and a hell of a lot more).

Subject: [nsp] AS info in traceroutes
all,
I am looking into how a Cisco router is able to provide AS resolution in a
traceroute.
I am trying to write a traceroute program and would like to include that
info in my own traces. Would I have to have a BGP table of my own on the
server to get the info?
looking for suggestions,
Thanks,
Jim
