[nsp] ATM subifs, multipoint to p-t-p

Along the same lines you can tftp down your config (copy run tftp), edit
it to replace the "point-to-point" with "multipoint", pop it back up to
your startup-config (copy tftp start) and then reboot.
(Normal warnings here: You are editing your raw startup config, so if
you make a mistake you can loose access to the router and do other such
nasty stuff...)
As you have found, once a ATM interface is created there is no way to
fully remove it until you reboot.

Hi Charles, as far as I know, there is no way around this except
"reload". You can then recreate the subinterface according to your
desired type.

Hi,
Is there a trick to converting a bunch of "multipoint" atm subifs to
"point-to-point"? IOS simply says:
"% Warning: cannot change link type"
So in the meantime it looks like I have to make new interfaces and
destroy the old. But even after getting rid of the old interface I
can't recreate it as point-to-point; the same error is given.
Is there any way around this? I like to match my subint names to the
pvcs they are associated with, and this throws that whole scheme out the
window...
Thanks,
Charles
