I have seen complaints about the performance of the Extremes under DoS 
attacks. Search the NANOG archives and you will come across them.

BTW, Jared has setup mailing-lists for those two vendors. :) foundry-nsp 
and extreme-nsp. Not a lot of traffic on those lists though. :(
