I completely wore mine out on the ~ 275 pieces of spam and ~ 30 viruses
that I am deleting every day (yes, I have broken a 100k spam/year
threshold :(

OOO messages are just evil. Consider it an invitation to the Bad Guys as
to when are the opportune times to come knocking (including possibly the
source IP of your (perhaps less ardously patched) workstation which was
left running so Outlook could do it's OOO thing). Would those people
also leave a sign on their front door advising anyone who calls that
they won't be home until Aug 8?

Ironically my last post to the list about OOOs netted the attached OOO,
which should serve to demonstrate the point that the list admin cannot
prevent OOO messages from hitting subs, as you'll note that
puck.nether.net isn't referenced anywhere in it.
