I would also recommend that you play with the auto/full on both sides. While
the general rule states that Auto is bad, it is the only way that works
between vendors. How long is the cable between the port and the PBX.  Could
be a bad port/network card.

You have stated that one side is fixed 100 fd and the other is  set 100 fd

I would consider tweaking the cable, have you tested that it is Cat 5
compliant (pin outs and length)

If that doesn't help, try setting the Cat 6500 to half duplex,  see what
that does.
