The ability to manage a device other than via a network connected to the
device which you are managing.

For example, a dialup modem connected to a console port. For scalability,
dust off one of the Portmaster 2e units you have stacked up in the closet.

A hint for situations where you HAVE to configure a router remotely and
don't have out-of-band management: "reload in 15". This tells the router
to reboot in 15 minutes. Change 15 to a number of your choosing but
within reason.

Then, if you accidentally do some stupid like "no ip routing" instead of
removing a single static route or change the encapsulation of the interface
to which you're connected, all you need to do is wait. When the timeout
expires, the router reboots. As your typo-braino wasn't written to memory,
it comes back up just like it was before you started tweaking.

If your change is successful and you don't shoot yourself in the foot, then
"reload cancel" and "write mem" and you're good to go. You'll get warnings
five minutes and one minute before the reload on your terminal screen.
