No, this can not be done. You can't split the DS3 cable since you'll mess
up the cable impedance, cause reflections, and alter all the signal levels
on the wire. What you're talking about would be like using one 10/100
Ethernet port to serve two computers, which would present all the same
kinds of problems

I've never heard of anyone trying this. I suppose you could use a digital
cross-connect box to reroute a DS3 port to a second PA-MC-T3 if the first
failed, but I don't think it could be 'auto'.
