Yup; I found that link (or one remarkably similar to it). Landing the
higher VLAN IDs on the 5500 isn't going to work. We only have an immediate
need for two, but future requirements will be dozens or 100 or so.
My next idea/alternative is to land it on a 7500, but my current IOS has
the same VLAN limitation. Also, some VLANs may be landed directly, and
other may effectively be out-of-band to other customers; not landing
directly on our infrastructure.
My current idea/hope is to find an external device that can do the VLAN
translation for me.
