Thanks to all for advice.

AS Change went well, apart from standby 7204VXR edge box requiring
reboot after 'clear ip bgp neighbors X.X.X.X soft out'.

Not to be repeated.

You may be done by now, but the BGP Local-AS feature can ease the
transition by allowing your external peering sessions to maintain the
old
AS number while simultaneously implementing the new one internally.
Once
you are convinced everything is copacetic, you can then transition the
external peers as well.
