[c-nsp] another spanning-tree question

Hi,

Following up on an earlier thread ... I've got a 2801 router with a 4-port
etherswitch module plugged into a 3750 on a customer network. The port on
the 2801 belongs to an SVI (vlan 50) on which spanning-tree is disabled.

I will be plugging two more ports of the 2801's etherswitch module into
their network, but by way of a VPN3000 on one port and a Windows proxy
server on the other port. Both ports on the 2801 will belong to one SVI
(vlan 2). The VPN concentrator and the proxy server both plug into the
customer's network.

The customer's campus-wide network is comprised of one big vlan (vlan1) --
ugh.

The question I have is: would you foresee problems with disabling
spanning-tree on 2801 vlan 2? I would be counting on the VPN3000 and the
proxy server to not pass broadcast packets from the customer's network to
the 2801 ... by the same token, I would not expect spanning-tree, if left
enabled, to actually do anything.

Do you think these are correct assumptions regarding the interaction between
the 2801, the VPN3000 and proxy server, spanning-tree, and the customer's
network?

Thanks,
Adam
