I don't remember who made the point on here...But a few months ago we had a similar discussion and I seem to remember
This limit from that...

I do remember the 3550's won't handle more than 12K routes...

Anyway...

I'm running a few 3550's (EMI) with 12+ routed interfaces...

I believe the limit you are referring to has to do with the maximum routing table size...
