NPE-G1 is not supported in 12.1. 

I'm sure (using that) that it's supported in 12.2S and recent 12.0S 
versions, and I'm fairly sure that it's supported in 12.3 and later
IOSes.  12.2 main might NOT be supported - check with CCO first.
