| I have an outdated 1601 with 4 megs of flash and I would like to run an
| IOS image that is 5 megs.
|
| If I tell the router to boot from tftp, i.e.:
|
| Boot system tftp c160-whatever.bin 1.2.3.4
|
| Will it load the ios image into RAM or try to download it to flash?
|
| I would like to verify this before attempting since the router is at a
| remote site.

The "boot system" config command tells the device where to load its image
from provided 1) it is a run from RAM capable device; and 2) the config
register setting is appropriately set. See:

for info on that command, specific info on the 1600, and config register
settings.
The image in flash would only be replaced via the exec command "copy tftp
flash".
