The increase in ping rtt probably has everything to do with the fact that you
are hitting 90% utilization (as a 5 minute average? so your spikes in those
5 mins could be close to 100%) on your ds3 ports, not the cpu utilization.
Keep running the npe-300, and by the time you start hitting 65% cpu, the npe-g1
will be a few $1000s cheaper, or you could even try something else entirely.
