You didn't mention the precise nature of the failure, but since you
mention the lithium battery I'll go under the assumption that the
router lost its NVRAM.  Not that uncommon to have that croak at the
same time on routers of similar vintage that have run in the same
environment.

If you need to replace the battery, it is in fact possible to do this
yourself.  Order up replacement parts from Newark (there is in fact a
3-legged 3v coin cell in their catalog, made by Ray-o-Vac, but I can't
find their invoice just now, so I don't have Newark's part number or
anything).  Replacement, well...  it helps to be familiar with circuit
board rework and have a desoldering station dental picks, etc. at your
disposal.  Cisco bends over the legs of the coin cell once it's stuck
through the board, so it can be a bit of a pain to get out.  Cut the
legs and work on 'em one at a time; it's not as if you care about
saving a dead battery.

By the way, you don't want to do this on anything you have under
maintenance or warranty.  :)
