hello,

  afaik, there is lot of buffering overhead associated with eth frame <->
atm cell conversion, and that buffering has to be done by the cpu.

And this seems to be true or E3/T3 NM/PA case as well.
  (buffering, not the cells :))  )

This is something I've never understood. Why do devices that can
process Fast Ethernet without even blinking have such a problem with
DS3? In my mind, a router that can handle multiple FE ports or even a
single GE port should have no problem running an OC-3.  ;-)

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work that way.
