[c-nsp] Interesting Problem

Here's a weird problem that we just ran into. We have a 2620XM with a frame
relay T1 serially connected to interface Serial0/0. One of our techs just
installed a new switch and connected it to the router. As soon as she
connected the switch to the Fa0/0 interface on the router, the line protocol
on the serial interface went down. We tried to troubleshoot it for a while
and didn't see anything weird at all, but we couldn't get line protocol to
come back up. She disconnected the ethernet cable just for grins and line
protocol came on the serial interface came up! She swapped out the ethernet
cable and reconnected it, and now all is fine.

I checked the logs and the cpu usage history and I see nothing to indicate
why a bad cable in the Fa0/0 interface would cause line protocol on a serial
interface to go down. Very, very strange! I suspect a bug but I didn't
see anything in Bug Tracker.

Have any of you ever seen that before?

Thanks,
John
