[c-nsp] WS-G5482 vs G5483 1000baseT GBICs?

All,

Looking at purchasing a few of these secondhand.  They'll be used in 3500XL 
switches primarily but they may also see some use in a 6500/4000 series 
platform.

Checking the Cisco site, I can see that the 5482 was replaced by the 5483 - 
the 5482 is only supported in the 2900/3500 series platforms whereas the 
5483 is supported in the 6500/4000 series platforms as well.

Has anyone had experience with these - in particular, the 5482 in 6500/4000s 
and whether they work at all?  Also, is it possible for these to work in the 
Catalyst 5000 3 port and 9 port GE blades (I understand they're not 
supported but I've heard reports that they do indeed function).
