[c-nsp] Somewhat rudamentary BGP question regarding Cisco gear.

Greetings, this most likely seems like an amusing inquiry to
most; however I've been through and through my configurations and
documentation and the appropriate looking glasses, and utilities, and
Cisco's manuals; and the BGP books - and I simply can't get a good feel
for what the answer to this question is, the answer could be as simple
as "It doesn't really matter" or it could be as simple as "this setting
makes no sense".

Basically I am trying to figure out (and you may laugh so hard
that milk comes out of your nose, [you remember that, right?]) Why; when
people, myself included look up our AS on fixedorbit.com and other
looking glass-ish sites it says the AS is not in use when we are
actually neighbored with no less than 5 different Autonomous Systems.
Some people have mentioned that fixedorbit doesn't have a complete view
of the Internet, that's fine. I have also noticed that certain public
router sites such as the route-views project exhibits the same behavior.
It is not affecting any functionality. It is more a question of "form" I
suppose.

I was just looking for general ideas of things I can look for
that would perhaps point me in the correct direction, I can tell you
that this "used to work" and then stopped working.

^^ that is the kind of technical jargon that I would normally
smack people for.

Thanks for your time and consideration,
       Sincerely,
       Andrew
