Hey Everyone -

I am working on a 6509 with a SUP2 in IOS mode. I went to bring up BGP
with two peers today and all went well until I tried to bring up the
second peer.

I have 256MB of memory on the SUP, yet this is what I see when I bring
up the second peer:

2w2d: %SYS-2-MALLOCFAIL: Memory allocation of 65540 bytes failed from 0x40234F7C, pool Processor, alignment 0
-Process= "BGP Router", ipl= 0, pid= 126
-Traceback= 402382D8 4023A738 40234F84 40235784 407A225C 4077A524 4078C7F4 4078CCF4 4077FD18 40784E7C 4022EC9C 4022EC88

Then both peers go down and the router reboots itself.

It happened twice, so I stopped and figured I would try and nd find out why.

Having had SUP2s running with 256MB of memory and two ebgp peers with
full tables in the past, I an thinking a memory failure of some sort...?
Or is 256MB of memory just not enough to do BGP any more..?

The router is not doing anything besides BGP and some static routes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks !!
