[c-nsp] monitoring suggestion

Afternoon, I've been playing with open nms but it's not quite doing what
I want, could be cluelessness though.

 

I want a tool that will gather traps I.E. if a session drops etc and
then send alerts / log events.  I'm also looking for a tool that can
process some syslog data and look for error conditions.  

 

I'm not against spending money so suggestions for either free Open
Source or commercial management software welcome.
