Hi,
We have a C7200-IO-GE+E card that was working in a 7206 VXR chassis. The
unit was taken off line for 2 months and is now being brought back into
service.
When the unit was powered up, there was no output on the Console serial
port. Once IOS loaded there was output on the AUX port.
I had one of our NOC geeks play with it to see if they could sort out the
issue. From what they said they did the following:
1. Set confreg to 0x0 rebooted, since then no access to the IO Console or
AUX port. The ENABLE Light on the IO module does not
come on.
2. They then tried to push the CPU RESET button on the card to see if
anything would happen. Nothing happened.
I got the system back and noticed that the reset button was stuck in a
pressed state. I picked it and it popped back out.
Still no useful data on either serial port. However, when I hook a RS-232
breakout box to the console port I do see the TX light blink
in a manner that appears to be sending data. NOthing shows up on my
HyperTerm screen. I've tried 1200-9600 baud settings.
In reading the Cisco DOCs online, they say don't press CPU Reset without the
advise of TAC. They don't say what will happen
So I'm wondering if anyone here has any idea on how I might bring back to
life this card. I think its executing code because I see the serial
TX blink as if its clocking out bits, but I don't see any chars on the
screen. This could be because HyperTerm is trying to protect me from bad
data :)
Thanks in advance
