All,

On a Cisco 6509, I have noticed the error "QChip Port#48 Noc Header Crc
Error". There is a 50% packet loss on this port. The following error is
showing up; Module 4 contains the FastEthernet ports.

%PM_SCP-SP-2-LCP_FW_ERR_INFORM: Module 4 is experiencing the following
error: QChip Port#48 Noc Header Crc Error
%PM_SCP-SP-2-LCP_FW_ERR_INFORM: Module 4 is experiencing the following
error: QChip Port#48 Noc Header Crc Error

I did look this error up on the Cisco web site. I have got the
following explanation for it;

SYS-5-SYS_LCPERR5:Module [dec]: Qchip Port#[dec] Noc Header Crc Error

Explanation : This message indicates an error for a specified port. The
module has detected a header CRC error in the Qchip ASIC. This is a
debugging message for Cisco development purposes. The first [dec] is the
module number and the second [dec] is the front panel port.

Action If the error is limited to a single module, replace the module.
If the error occurs several times, contact your technical support
representative.

I have also found another document on Cisco's web site, that suggested a
few diagnostics. I ran all of the applicable diagnostics and the tests
all returned a success. I even switched the ports around.

There is a mailing list for people using Cisco routers in network
service provider environment.
