Real-life scenario 3750 running some image prior to 12.2(25)SE, while
upgraded to 12.2(25)SE checking of serial number was implemented, it found
two SFP's with copied EEPROM and put both interfaces down, those
happened to be both sides of the 1GE metroring :).
As today you can use non-cisco SFP's, it's much better to use
non cisco compatible 3rd party than cisco compatible 3rd party,
to avoid vendors who only have few working EEPROM copies.
