Is your customer out of you administrative domain?
Because if so maybe there is a loop on his network, as one of replies
you received suggested.
I faced the problem with 2 different root causes. One was loop. The
other there was no loop, increases on CPU and duplicated IP messages.
The only duplicated connection were etherchannel. There was not even
customers with physical loops. After migrating to IEEE MST Compliant
problem disappeared. This occurred more than once, so probably was not
coincidence.
Good Luck,
Alaerte

hrmm,
My customer is PVST+ that is IEEE complaint. As for the HSRP group,
there are not many only 10 I will say.
So your suggestion is for me to migrate from hybrid to native and
upgrade the IOS to SXF5. Maybe you can elaborate on your case too if you
remember? :)

Hum,,,Dave, I followed the replies you received and I agree that
it can be loop. But I have seem this problem without loop. If you did
search for loop on your network and did not find, maybe your case is
similar to the one I faced.
The configuration I troubleshoot is similar to yours, but it was
native version.
Anyway, here is the final solution for your analysis and verify
if it apply to your case:
The solution was migrate to SXF5 and from Cisco Compliant MST to
IEEE Compliant. After these actions problem was solved.
Are you using Cisco compliant MST?
Do you have non default HSRP parameters?
Do you have high number of HSRP groups?
Regards,
Alaerte
