If I read this correctly:
"As shown in Figure 1, a customer can continue to use Cisco IOS
Software Release 12.2SX images for future software releases for
pure Cisco Catalyst 6500 chassis environments, 12.2SXF images for
mixed chassis environments, or the customer can migrate to the
Cisco 7600 Series routers with Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2SR."
this means "SXF will continue to work for both, but SXG (or whatever
comes next) will only work for 'pure Cisco Catalyst 6500...'".
Whatever: I'm not trusting these folks anymore.
So I expect "the first really usable modular IOS" (with IPv6 and MPLS)
to be SXG or SXH, and it won't run on our hardware.
(Hmmm. I wonder when the announcement "oh, btw, SRC will not run on
LAN-type interface cards anymore" will come...)
