Note that for unknown reason the SFP-xx modules are
not yet officially supported on Catalyst switches, so
TAC might not support such setup anyway.

Sure, any SFP which is SFF8472-compliant should work
fine. Just make sure you buy it from reputable vendor.

But beware, the firmware on WS-X6724-SFP and
WS-X6748-SFP linecards returns an error for DOM
queries so DOM is not usable on those linecards. This
is quite a bad surprise, since even the old
WS-X6516-GBIC linecards are supporing DOM fine. Has
anyone an idea when this gets fixed?
