Well, supposedly the chassis' are coded - but worse, some line cards
are supposedly "enterprise" line cards, and others are "service provider"
line cards.

So it's quite easy to drop support for certain types of line cards from
certain IOS trains.

You'd better not build a device (whatever number the chassis has) with
"service provider" *and* "enterprise" line cards...

(Of course it's still possible that they see the light - but I don't
trust 'em).
