[c-nsp] routing issue related to alias interfaces on linux server

Im having a weird issue with alias'ed interfaces not being accessible from
part of my network that is connected via a cisco 3550 switch. hosts
behind that switch (its doing ethernet routing) can ping the main
interface of the linux server, but cannot ping the alias'ed interface.
hosts on any other network can ping the alias addresses.
my switch is setup as follows
int gi0/1 - no switchport, ip address 192.168.1.20/24 - uplinks to core
switch (cat 6500)
int vlan 10 - ip address 172.16.73.1/24
int vlan 20 - ip address 172.16.75.1/24
default route - 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.1
host with aliased addresses in in 192.168.1.0 network
hosts in vlan 10 and vlan 20 cannot ping 192.168.1.29 (alias) but can ping
192.168.1.25. Im guessing this has something to do with how Im routing to
the subnets but cant think of another way to get this going.
