Why do you believe there *is* an advantage to one or the other? On
"switch" type platforms (e.g. 3550, 3560/3750, 6500/7600 with "classic"
cards), a physical port interface is implemented as an SVI using an
"internal" VLAN.  You can see the usage of these VLANS with "show vlan
internal usage".
