no such book or doc as far as i'm aware. but i did recently convert our
whole network from PVST to Rapid PVST (RPVST or PVRST depending
on which cisco resource you look). which was a painless migration
and offers much much better logical handling, removes the need for
uplink-fast and backbone-fast etc etc.  very nice. oh, and if you 
have eg HP, its okay - though HP do have a little paper about interopping
HP with cisco when using RPVST (where they go on about MST.....)
