[c-nsp] CVR-X2-SFP

Here is a question I asked a nameless imaginary Cisco employee about 6
months ago.

Me:
Q. Will the 6500 ever support the TwinGig converter. This would catapult
the deployment of 10Gig in our network. We are looking at replacing 63
SupII's, and we'd love to buy the SUP32-10GB models, but we don't have
that infrastructure yet in our core. PLEASE seriously consider
supporting this. I can't see this being anything other than a code
thing. We can NDA this through our Sales guys if you have this on a
roadmap.

My imaginary Cisco friend:
A. Unfortunately, our 10GE hardware ASICs and baseboards were designed
long before TwinGig was an option. We cannot support this interface on
existing 10GE interfaces because we simply do not have the architecture
in place to support GE traces to 10GE ports. I do not see this changing.
A change of this type would cause us to redesign the modules and ASICs,
which is usually a 2 year project at minimum.

I would not expect them to work anywhere but on the
3750E, at least for now.
