Actually netflow is much *less* resource-hungry than "ip accounting".
(Been there, measured it, result was impressive).
There even was a feature early in 12.0S to make "ip accounting" based
on netflow data (something like "service netflow feature-accelearation"
or so), because netflow is much better optimized in IOS and scales much
better, but that was discontinued due to general depreciation of
"ip accounting".
... but on a T1 link, neither should have measurable impact... :)
