[c-nsp] Sup720 crashing at RP boot - HW revision dependent ?

Hello,

I got another pair of Sup720, Rev 5.2 and 5.7 and we've done a bunch of additional tests yesterday and there're some new results on this.

As before the 5.2 crashes in the 6509, but the 5.7 boots fine. This 5.2 gave me 'EOBC Jam's in addtion.

So at least there seems to be no >=5.2 or somewhat general issue.

Our supplier did some additional tests based on the revisions and came out with Sup720 Rev 5.2 booting fine in a 6509 Rev 2.0.

Although now all 3 Rev 5.2 engines aren't booting in my 6509 whilst 4.4 and 5.7 are working fine I begin to think whether my chassis might simply be defect. It's been productive for years and up to now everything worked smoothly as expected except those 3 Sup720's. But the only other cause in case the chassis is ok I can think of would mean a revision-based issue Sup 5.2/chassis 2.0 only occuring randomly (3 out of 3 is still random?) or with a subset of Sup's manufactured in Rev 5.2. This sounds too unlikely to me.

It can't be this one http://www.cisco.com/en/US/ts/fn/620/fn62606.html, but the note especially on Rev 5.2 makes me somewhat suspicious.

regards,

Marcus
