Thanks, yeah we're talking with all of those guys. A lot of it has to
do with the different roles the routers play.

It may be worthwhile to talk to the ION team, they did multi-core on
the NPE-G1. They did a lot of work since 2001 in ITD (now NSSTG) to
make it work out.
Let me know if you need introductions to the principals involved. The
XE stuff is still a mess IMHO, and XR is still a over-engineered beast
with massive overhead.
Make sure that anything you do includes all the hotice and similar
projects.
