[c-nsp] do i *need* DFCs on the 6500?

The chassis bus stall is done by 3 physical pins in the slot, so DFC or
not you still stall and potentially reboot the chassis while
inserting/removing a card- however DFC enabled line cards are not
subject to the packet loss associated with a bus stall [1].
