3508G-XL is a very old layer 2 switch, 3550-12G is one generation
newer (10 years?) and is a layer 3 switch. Both are end-of-sale,
3508G-XL is end-of-support, and you can't attach a new service
contract to the 3550.

You really should get something more recent.
