For last few weeks we had couple of clients who wanted to switch
completely from their cable system to wireless, afaik, there is
solution for it - PicoCells, but clients have to be only special Intel
cards and wifi voice integration will be difficult.
It looks for me as very interesting and fascinating project, with a
lot of APs and complex installation, but it looks also very scary -
because we had no experience with PicoCells technology, and we can't
simulate it in lab with 300 laptops.
Does anyone of dear readers had such experience and what it was? Good,
bad? What is the most important in such installations? What is the
most common problems? What average performance for clients in 'usual
office life'?
Or idea of replacement cable system with wireless is an absurd and we
should recommend our clients not do it?
