IIRC you can't control power to sup slots.

We have (and do) remove and insert cards, includings sups, into 6500s 
without problem. The real issue is the potential for bus-stalls on 
insert, which requires careful alignment and forceful, no-hesitation 
insertion ;o)

I would advise the OP to just pull it.
