Hi List,

i have some problems with understanding the output of "ping ipv6"
command and can't find any documentation on cisco website.

Ping in IPv4-mode uses these characters:
!	Each exclamation point indicates receipt of a reply.
.	Each period indicates the network server timed out while waiting for
a reply.
U	A destination unreachable error PDU was received.
Q	Source quench (destination too busy).
M	Could not fragment.
?	Unknown packet type.
&	Packet lifetime exceeded

Can someone give me an overview of the ipv6 output characters or an
explanation of the following output?

ipv6#ping 2A00:1450:8001::6A size 900

Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 900-byte ICMP Echos to 2A00:1450:8001::6A, timeout is 2 seconds:
CCCCC
Success rate is 0 percent (0/5)
ipv6#ping 2A00:1450:8001::6A size 1600

Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 1600-byte ICMP Echos to 2A00:1450:8001::6A, timeout is 2 seconds:
AAAAA
Success rate is 0 percent (0/5)
ipv6#ping 2A00:1450:8001::6A size 100

Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 2A00:1450:8001::6A, timeout is 2 seconds:
!!!!!
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 20/20/20 ms

Thanks in advance...

Regards,
Alex
