List:

We are in the process of planning for a redundant data center at a separate physical location that will be hosting redundant publicly available systems.

Systems like email and VPN are no problem but what I am struggling with the web hosting.

Initial thoughts are to do have some external service point www traffic to the primary site, and if the primary site is not available or processing http requests, update the public DNS to point www traffic to the secondary site.

Does anyone have a system like this in place and if so what are the pros and cons of building redundancy this way and what services would you recommend? And if anyone has any thoughts on a better way to implement redundancy across sites, I am all ears.

Thanks in advance,
